When the K24Z7 was first introduced, many owners were disappointed with the integrated exhaust manifold that made conventional “headers” obsolete. When looking at the O.E. precat, it's evident that it was cheaply made for the masses. In addition, 2 catalytic converters choke the engine, robbing it of its potential.
RV6 set out to rectify issues seen in the O.E. unit. The double cats were replaced with one higher flowing, high-temperature capable piece. A flex section is used to combat thermal expansion and reduce unnecessary stress on the entire system. The shape and layout are meticulously considered to maximize fluid dynamics. In addition, larger diameter tubing is used to let the K-Series breathe.
Living under the car, the downpipe isn’t a piece that will be seen every day - that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be show quality. This Bellmouth Downpipe is made solely from 304 stainless steel: 2.5” tubing, cast flange, flex section, and high temp catalytic converter. The entire system is back-purged before welding to ensure it looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside.
