BC Racing BR Series Coilovers - 2004-2007 Scion xB (RA Type)
The first-gen xB is a perfect canvas for a suspension upgrade. It's boxy, it's light, it's cheap to own, and it gets a whole new attitude the second you get it sitting right and handling like it means it. The thing holding a stock xB back is the suspension it left the lot with, soft, tall, and tuned for easy commuting, not for corners or for the look you're after. BC Racing's BR Series is how you fix both without draining your build budget. It's BC's most affordable coilover and the one most xB owners start with, because it gives you a real drop and real damping adjustability without the price tag of the higher-end kits. You set the height, you set the feel, and your xB stops looking and driving like a delivery box.
What Stock Suspension Is Holding Back
A stock xB leans in corners, sits up high with a big fender gap, and floats around more than you'd like once you start having fun with it. None of that bugs you running errands, but the moment you push it through a corner or an on-ramp, you'll feel the body moving around on those soft factory springs. And the height isn't adjustable, so you're stuck with that tall stock stance no matter what. Coilovers fix both at once. You get damping you can firm up when you want to drive hard and back off for the trip home, plus a ride height you set yourself instead of the one Scion picked for a commuter.
Spring Rates Tuned For A Light Car
This is where BC's testing pays off. The xB is a featherweight, so BC didn't just bolt on whatever spring was lying around, they tuned the rates to match how light this chassis already is, landing on 4kg front and 3kg rear. That's a setup that controls body motion without beating you up, because slapping super-stiff springs on a small light car just turns it into a harsh, skittery mess that's miserable on real roads. Underneath, it's a 30mm-style mono-tube shock with a linear piston and damping curve, so the response stays smooth and predictable whether you're cruising or pushing. The RA Type top plates come on this kit, with pillowball mounts that sharpen up your steering, and BC's lower locking ring keeps your ride height from creeping once you've set it.
30 Clicks To Dial It In
You get 30 clicks of compression and rebound off a single knob, so going from a comfortable street setting to something firmer for a back-road run takes a couple of minutes, not a teardown. Ride height adjusts on its own separate thread, independent of the spring, so dropping the car doesn't eat into your shock travel. The standard setup sits about an inch below stock at its tallest and 2.5 to 3 inches below at its lowest, which is plenty of drop for most xB builds without going full slammed. And if you decide later you want something more aggressive, custom spring rates, Swift springs, and matched valving are all on the table, so this kit grows with your build instead of getting replaced by it.
Fits The 2004-2007 Scion xB
This kit is built for the first-gen Scion xB, 2004 through 2007. Whether you're chasing a cleaner stance, sharper handling for canyon runs and autocross, or you just want your daily to stop wallowing around, this is the kit that gets you there without overspending on a car that was a bargain to begin with.
